Cantù City of Furniture - Wood Festival 2022

The ANTIMATTER_STONE project goes beyond the geographical boundaries of the city where it originated and begins its second phase, the itinerant one.

After a year of actions, performances, meetings, planning with schools and citizens in the Venetian Lagoon, the organizers have developed the need to expand the boundaries of the project. While maintaining the principles of origin, namely the protection of the environment and the reflection on the concept of waste, planning changes its appearance and transforms itself. The goal is to move its activities to Italian cities, conveying those universal themes that affect the life of every community.

The first stop chosen is Cantù with its Wood Festival 2022, a festival populated by a rich calendar of events, in the name of sustainability, which celebrates the creative art of local companies through workshops, webinars, fashion shows, exhibitions and initiatives site specific with the collaboration of great internationally renowned designers and artists.

During the first appointment, scheduled for Friday 11th November, through workshops and participatory activities, the students of the Cantù schools will be stimulated to reflect on the proposed themes.

The following day, Saturday 12th November, at 12.00 in Piazza Garibaldi in Cantù (CO), all citizens are called to take part in the performance/flashmob around the ANTIMATTER_Stone work by Sebastiano Pelli created in collaboration with Molteni Vernici.

AN ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE WITH A HIGH SOCIAL IMPACT

The performance will take place around Sebastiano Pelli's ANTIMATTER_STONE work, treated with the special finishes produced by the Brand Molteni Vernici from Cantù.

The work, made of recycled metal and with the size of an irregular cube of about 2 meters per side, will contain the non-recyclable plastic collected by the citizens, which will be thrown inside by the participants before being sealed at the end of the performance.

ANTIMATTER Stone is a sculpture with a great social impact: waste material, recovered sheet metal, which incorporates plastic waste. Matter that turns into antimatter, a "stone" that contains waste, meets it, collides with it and annihilates it by producing energy. Energy for a new world: participatory, responsible, sustainable.

THE ANTIMATTER WORK

HAS BEEN COATED WITH THE PRODUCT 1800 ANTIDILAVANTE

It is a natural, environmentally friendly, low VOC product without Formaldehyde.

Molteni Vernici, in collaboration with the Oils and Greases Institute of Milan, presents the new protective product called Proiron specific for Corten Steel. The main feature of Proiron is to coat the surface of the newly oxidized metal with an imperceptible neutral colorless layer, preventing the dusting and the washout of the oxide on the underlying surfaces.

Ready-to-use product applicable on metal supports, it is specific for outdoor environments and is highly resistant to wear, thermal shock and bad weather. Suitable for both large and small structures.

With a sturdy, compact and imperceptible protective film, this product is suitable for outdoor artifacts and can also be used for indoor artifacts that cannot be manipulated; applicable by pneumatic spray, roller, brush or cloth. Product appreciated by the biggest names within the international design market. Possibility of customized colors to change the original color of the support without losing its typical materiality.
